Inspired by Nature: 23 Photos You’ve Got to See!
Recently, I had the pleasure of doing one of my all time favorite things: scrolling endlessly for inspiration. Not just anything, but we were doing articles about home decor inspired by nature. Of course, there were themes that jumped out right away: plants, woven elements, and natural wood. But, I’m always surprised at how other things come out. The colors this year have added a charming, organic feel. And, the creativity is unlimited. So, here it is, a round up of my favorite pics from this series.
Woods & Whites
There’s just something soft and peaceful about natural wood with the color white.
Caitlin, of @caitlinmariedesign, styled this bookshelf with layers of white, allowing the whimsy of the branches to stand out.
Emily, of @housetohavendesign, has a way with the “whites and woods” trend. Her home is beautifully styled with this serene combo.
Sindy, of @tanglewood_homes, is a girl after my own heart. This style statement of whites and woods is the essence of scroll stopping savvy. And, those plants. Just. So. Perfect.
Woven Charm
It’s no secret–I love woven elements. Baskets, blankets, rugs…woven elements add so much texture to the home. These insta-friends are slaying design by adding in these ‘inspired by nature’ pieces.
Lauren, of @willowandjadeinteriors, brings woven accents into play in this entryway–and I am swooning! From the pillow to the planter basket, and onto the trio of baskets–I love the unlimited amount of style + function in this space!
Nina, of @houseofniina, always has a scene to showcase in this bedroom. These woven baskets caught my eye, but the splashes of green are what really sets this space apart!
Kaari, of @sommerhomes, offers this take on elements inspired by nature with woven baskets, that unique mirror frame and the unique look of that woven vase holder. All put together beautifully!
Let’s talk woven wood shades for a second. How amazing is the look of this homework station? Skyline Window Coverings added just the right amount of woven texture to this space with those shades, while allowing the light to enter, filtered and softened. I’m going to need those in my living room.
Artwork Inspired by Nature
This is where creativity comes alive! Art is a great way to surround yourself with the beauty of nature, and these photos are proof of that.
Friends, Rocio & Jen, of @slsrplainfield, showcased this incredible piece of art. This was a DIY! Styled beautifully, as always, these two offer continual inspiration of their homes and others who love decor, design and DIY.
Ellen, of @ellenblisshome, creates beautifully curated spaces in her home, like this one here. Everything about the cozy, sophistication of this space just swept me away the moment I saw it.
Natasha, of @50_shades_of_neutral, put this space together in her living room with layers of earthy textures. That wooden piece definitely steals the show!
The Colors of the Season
If we want to talk about elements inspired by nature, there’s no avoiding the organic colors that have come into play. While I love the peaceful vibe of soft neutrals, the new neutrals on the block offer vibrant charm, without going over the top. Camel, olive, mustard–even blues, these colors have entered the scene, and we are loving them, aren’t we?
Michelle, of @michelle.mazurenko, proves that all you need is a splash of color to completely own the personality of the space. That blue island, paired with the camel chairs, is everything.
Aminah, of @neatly.living, always offers chic design, paired with the right amount of color. With the color-blocked wall design, dimension is added to the space, while the colors themselves bring an oh-so-fun lively nature.
Ashley, of @intentionalspace, continually wows us with spaces in her home, inspired by nature itself. The colors in this living room are rich, yet soothing. This space invites you to relax in your own personal oasis.
Always a Win: The Color Black
And, then…there’s black. No color has quite an effect on space quite like black. Bringing it into the design of your home, the only thing you have to be careful of is the amount. Outlines, accents and feature walls–these inspirational photos are where it’s at.
Elizabeth, of @elizabethclemens.designs, pairs sleek black outlines to contrast the soft neutral palette of this dining space. One way to soften modern lines is with fabrics and textures, and she nailed it with the window treatments and woven lighting.
Kristina, of @kristina.roy, put together this sanctuary space in her bathroom. Outlines of black take a farmhouse theme and turn it into modern farmhouse. It’s subtle, but intentional–the ideal way to decorate.
Janice, of @ourperfectingmanor, added just the right amount of black elements to the “inspired by nature” living room of this open floor plan home. That staircase is stunning, coordinating with the design for a resulting wow factor.
We love how @themodernclassichome defines the dining space with this dark table and chairs. It can be tricky to style spaces within an open floor plan, but this photo shows it being accomplished beautifully.
Michaela, of @mishkashoe, created a fabulous space with the color black in her bathroom. The patterned floor tiles offer personality, while the black walls feature moody perfection. Inspired by nature, she chose woods, woven elements and plants to offer an organic feel.
All the Plants!
You know I couldn’t resist adding a section about plants, right? They are an essential part of adding an ‘inspired by nature’ theme to your home. There has been research that shows that having plants in your home can reduce anxiety, purify the air and help with depression. Whether you choose real or faux plants, one thing is clear: You’re better off with them than without them!
This is the corner of my bathroom, and those top down shades from @skyline_wc are awesome for those little succulents on the top shelf. It’s just enough light for them. The trailing plant…well…that’s just a faux beauty from TJ Maxx! I’ll get there someday!
If you’re needing some plant-spiration, look no further than @plantsbybing! Daily doses of indoor plants, arranged beautifully and in the most interesting planters, you’ll love scrolling her feed.
Katie, of @thehuckabeehome, brings a natural feel to the farmhouse charm of this space with her plants. She’s picked out just the right elements, and the plants are the finishing touch. That wall basket? Simply adorable!
Ash, of @the330jungalow, brings style and life to her home with plants. Not only are plants capable of adding greenery, but you can bring color into the mix if you find the right ones! Check out her feed for daily stories and inspo on plant life.
Laura, of @thosepositiveplants, brings the whimsy of plants to modern design. These honeycomb shelves are styled beautifully, with trailing plants, colors and a variety of heights.
