Backyard Details: Week 4
Week 4 of the One Room Challenge is here, and I’m excited to show some of the backyard details we have completed!
The Corner Garden
One aspect of our backyard that I started working on last year is adding perennials. When the challenge started, I wasn’t quite sure what would be coming back.
I\’m happy to report that we have had a good return of many of the plants and flowers we put in last year, especially in the corner garden and along the fence where it had been destroyed when they dug the pool.
At the Start of the Challenge:
Current Situation:
Remember that chair? That was a curbside find last year, and it just needed some love and paint. I used Krylon Fusion All-In-One in the color “Satin Rolling Surf” for this project. The little barrel planter was designed by Revi, early in the spring when we were dying for some color in the front of the house. But, the look fits better here.
We also picked out a windmill to add–Batavia is known for its windmills, so we thought it would be important to represent. I’m not quite sure what we will be adding to the galvanized tub–maybe some ivy? For now, I\’m happy with the overall progress of these backyard details.
More Backyard Details
This area was in the path of destruction after the pool area was dug last year. This was May of 2020, and we have done a lot of work since then.
This is where we started at the beginning of the challenge…
After everything was cleaned up, mulch added and plants accounted for or replaced–plus a bit of sunshine & rain…
I love how everything is growing, and I can’t wait to see the blooms! What else are you noticing in these after pictures???
The Lights!
We were successfully able to find more lights–not the same brand, but they are close enough that you can’t tell the difference. It looks awesome, surrounding the entire backyard. I am adding it to my to-do list to get a good picture of the space once it’s done. We ended up completing the look with Patriot String Lights. The warm white adds a glow to the yard.
Updates on Upcoming Projects
The Pallet Wall…
We found a place to put it! The holes have been dug. This is the only update I’m giving you because I’ve got a lot of work to do. All I can tell you is…I am so excited to show you guys this once it’s complete! You’ll love the spot we chose!
The Patio Furniture…
Last week you saw that I’ve been on the hunt for patio furniture. Out of stock, backorder, not the right size, not the right color, uncomfortable, too expensive. Wow, was I running into obstacles in every direction. I surprised Scott one day by informing him that I had bought one–annnnnd that he needed to rent a truck to go pick it up.
Pretty sure this is his “Seriously?!” face.
I know he’ll love it. I just know it.
The Patio
There’s only one problem. We have nowhere to put that furniture. But, we’ve got plans!
This area was one of the first “before” pictures I shared. This spot was a raised garden bed, but it has become a massive eye sore. This area is about to receive some major upgrades. But, we have to wait until June. We have a local company scheduled to add something awesome!
