The Bathroom Design Elements
It’s Week 2 of the One Room Challenge, and things have gotten underway! I vowed to not touch the bathroom until after Easter, but I feel like I’m off to a good start! I picked out a number of bathroom design elements, so now it’s time to take a look at what we’re starting with…
The Lighting
One of the most important bathroom design elements is the lighting you select. This can often frame the style of your design. The finishes, the shape, the glass finish–even the lightbulbs–they all should be planned. For our powder room, I wanted a gold finish and something with curves. The globes need to be frosted in this space…and I’ll explain why. We have 8 foot ceilings on the first floor, so the lighting is kind of…in your face. It’s a small bathroom, and whatever amount of light we install is going to be adequate–and maybe almost too much.
This bathroom vanity from Kickler Lighting is so dreamy and perfect.
The Wallpaper
I ordered the wallpaper from Home Depot last week. It’s a vinyl peel & stick wallpaper from NextWall.
It’s absolutely stunning, you guys.
The specific colorway is called “Mocha and Blue Mist Ink Rose Vinyl Peel and Stick Wallpaper Roll.” It arrived in just a few days. I ordered 3 rolls, with the idea that I’m only dropping the wallpaper on half the wall, and the board and batten will be on the bottom half. Let’s cross our fingers that I have enough!
The Paint Swatches
For the board & batten bottom half of the walls, I want to coordinate with blues in the wallpaper. I grabbed just a few swatches the other day. I don’t want anything too dark because this is a window-less bathroom in the center of the house. It’s already dark enough.
Putting It All Together
I took the opportunity to put everything togther so I could see the coordination. The wallpaper is a statement-maker. Holy moly. It’s beautiful, and now I just have to choose one of the blue paint colors.
Which One Would You Choose?
Head over to Instagram to vote for your favorite paint swatch! Heading into this, the darkest one was my favorite. The mid-hue has now grown on me quite a bit, and I was so surprised by the lightest shade here–how well it matched the blue in the wallpaper. Let me know what you think!
