Taking Out the Flooring: Week 5 Update
We’re wrapping up week five of the One Room Challenge. Hubs made progress on the room this week, taking out the flooring and baseboards. We are prepping for flooring to get installed this week, so this will be a huge update!
The Existing Flooring
You know what it’s like when you move into a home–you live with other people’s design choices, and they are often not what you would have selected yourself. Sometimes, you live with it, and sometimes, you look forward to the day when you can renovate.

The flooring really is fine, but it’s a little red for my taste–a little dark and heavy. That color scheme with the orange doors…it just doesn’t work. Could we have changed out the baseboards and lived with the flooring? Probably. Except, there were these gaps in random places.

And, of course, as long as we were doing our bedroom floor, why not do the entire second floor? It’s been insane for a week, with furniture and raw sub-floor everywhere, but within a few days, we will have a brand new floor that looks amazing.

The Scariest House on the Block
It was Halloween, after all. This is the scariest view of my house right now. No ghosts involved. In addition to the bedroom renovati0on, we *might* have started a few other projects. (More on that soon enough.)

What’s Next?
I bought more moulding for the walls. I will be attempting to add it to two more walls this week. I am trying to get our electrical finalized. I have a bench to build. I have beams to build and install. And, I’m still debating the wall decor. That might end up being an eleventh hour project. Head on over to Instagram to check out my progress–and everyone else’s!
