Week 3: Tile Shopping at MSI
It’s Week 3 of the One Room Challenge, and I am in NO WAY prepared to accept that we are almost *halfway* done. We aren’t. The plumbing is still in limbo, and that’s the next thing that has to be done now that the demo is complete. Yikes.
Let’s Go Shopping!
When the going gets tough, the tough head towards inspiration. With progress coming to a screeching halt, I decided to head to MSI in Elk Grove Village to go tile shopping. (See the Instagram Reel.)

It’s peaceful and dreamy in this place. You could wander the aisles for hours, just taking in all of the beautiful patterns, textures and colors.

What Did I Find?
It’s nice to see large installations of the tiles while tile shopping because you can see all of the variations and how it looks when the pieces are put together. I’ve been kind of on the fence about whether to choose a deep, jewel-toned teal, or my “color of the moment” dark green.

I’m definitely loving the greens. But now, I’m trying to decide if I go with the dark green, or whether I should shift to a lighter, sage-like color. Decisions, decisions.

I just LOVED these backlit displays…so pretty. I’m obsessed with all of the different variations and patterning on display–and the color coordination absolutely makes the design work.

The Floor Tile
We have decided to tile the floor in the bathroom. I like the larger-scale 12×24″ tiles for flooring. It’s a contemporary look. I want something light with a hint of color, and I think I’ve decided on choosing floor tile that has washed out grain running across it, Similar to this one:

No decisions yet. I have plumbers coming to do an estimate for us. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that they can start ASAP.
