Week 6: Kitchen Design Details
It’s Week 6 of the One Room Challenge, and I am sliding into Sunday with a last minute post. The progress on the kitchen project has slowed this week. If you saw my latest Instagram about painting, you know we are READY for cabinets! The progress will be kicking back up in the coming week, so there will be some big updates for week 7! While we are at a bit of a lull, I’m taking the time to show off the kitchen design details as a round up of what elements are final.
Emtek Hardware
We were excited to share our collaboration with Emtek in our latest updates. We chose the Trinity Pulls in Satin Brass, in varying lengths. Because our kitchen will be two-toned, I’m showing off the pulls on both sample doors: American Woodmark in Painted Linen for the wall and base cabinets and American Woodmark in Maple Latte for the Island.
I ordered varying lengths for the cabinet pulls, based on the size of the drawers and doors. The pulls will be vertical on the cabinet doors and horizontal on the drawer fronts. The only piece of hardware that will be different in the kitchen is for the pullout trash bin. That hardware is the Modern Edge pull in Satin Brass. It’s the ideal way to differentiate the trash bin, making it easy for guests and homeowners to find. I love that Emtek offers the same unique finishes across so many of their product collections. It makes it easy to coordinate design elements for the perfect result.
The Lighting
If you follow me on IG, you might have seen me unboxing the pendants that I ended up deciding to return. The good news is that I found some Pendants on Wayfair in Natural Brass that I quickly fell in love with, so there didn’t need to be any stress. We will be hanging 3 of these above the island. My biggest problem with using brass kitchen design details is how everything is going to look when it all comes together. The other light that we are using over the kitchen sink is this stunning Semi Flush Mount Ceiling Light in Natural Brass.
The Countertops
Before making any final decisions on the countertops, I had to visit the Cambria Showroom with all the kitchen design details. Here’s the reason: The quartz slab we love has brass INSIDE of it. That means…it better all look good together, or we’re in trouble.
If you are in the market for countertops, you’ve got to visit Cambria. It’s an absolute dreamy experience.
Their showroom has so many slabs and samples on display, but there is also a warehouse you can browse just about everything.
As you can see, I brought my kitchen design details to compare to the Berkshire Brass slab.
The Berkshire Brass collection comes in three different finishes. You can get it textured to show more of the brass flecks–I believe those are referred to as Satin Ridge and Sculpted. We are doing the High Gloss, which will seal it off, with no texture, and make the brass flecks muted, which is just my preference, but they are all beautiful.
I think it’s all going to be stunning. I can’t wait to see it all come together.
